2017 RS5 Seen & Heard Testing with V6 Turbo at Nürburgring

The latest spy video from the Nürburgring shows what the next generation Audi RS5 coupe will look like, and more importantly, sound like. Rumours that Audi is dispensing with V8 power for the next RS5 and RS4 appear to be borne out by the soundtrack.

While the new A5 and S5 models have only recently been launched by Audi, the company has also said it is looking to introduce RS models earlier in the production cycle than it used to. This suggests the RS5 might see the light of day late in 2017 or early 2018.

The last RS5 had Audi’s 450PS V8 engine. Expect the new model to match that power output, and add higher torque from lower down in the rev range thanks to the all-new V6 turbo. Power-to-weight ratio and acceleration should also be improved thanks to the lighter MLB platform of the new RS5.

With the new TT-RS Coupe already boasting a 3.7 second 0-62 mph time, can we expect the new RS5 Coupe to also deliver a sub 4 second performance? For now we will have to wait to see…
