Audi enjoyed record-breaking UK sales success in 2016, completing a total of 177,566 deliveries by year-end, thus improving on its 2015 full year performance by 6.4 per cent. Total UK market share at the end of 2016 for the brand also rose by 0.3 per cent to 6.6 per cent.
Globally, Audi increased sales to 1,871,350 cars in 2016, 3.8 per cent more than in 2015.
Sales were supported by the successful launch of the new Q2 SUV, and the introductions of new versions of breadwinner A4, Q5 SUV and A5 models, all of which will probably make an even greater impact in 2017. The second generation of the Q7 contributed a full 12 months of sales last year.
The renamed Audi Sport division provided another growth engine for Audi in 2016. Its flagship model, the new R8 accelerated by 31.8 percent to 2,890 cars sold. The entire R and RS family exceeded the 20,000 unit mark for the first time with strong gains of 18 per cent to around 20,200 automobiles sold.
